We interviewed the beautiful bride, Priyanka Adon-Abel (Instagram: @PinkieFresh) after her gorgeous wedding in London about her experience choosing her perfect bridal outift, ordering online, tips for other brides and what she loved most about her outfit!
How did you narrow down what bridal outfit you wanted? Like many brides I searched online looking at outfits on several websites and Instagram pages of designers and boutiques, compiling pictures that vibed with my style. I wanted something modern or not totally traditional and this turned out to be difficult to find unless I wanted to pay an absurd amount of money.
Why did you choose your final outfit from WaliaJones? Yellow is the colour I knew I wanted to wear on my wedding day - it's one of the most beautiful colours for darker toned Indian/brown women. Finding yellow bridal outfits was quite a challenge though, most of the outfits I found were more for Haldi ceremonies and not bridal enough for the wedding day. I was giving up hope and thinking I needed to change my mind on the colour when I found the yellow bridal outfit from WaliaJones; it was perfect. It had modern detailing and the yellow is a beautiful golden-mustard colour that is stunning in raw silk fabric. This is something that I came to fall in love with about WaliaJones clothing, it's classic and modern at the same time, everything has stunning detail that is elegant and regal.
How was the sizing and fit of the outfit you chose? WaliaJones customer service provided instructions for the exact measurements I need to provide with a diagram to explain each measurement- this made it very easy. The blouse fit great and had cups already sewn in which made it comfortable and secure on the wedding day. The only compliant I have is that there was no way to secure the skirt other than the zipper- there was no clasp or string to tighten the skirt and tie it off. The skirt was fairly heavy from the beautiful bead work and really need away to better secure it. If you need that added, make sure you talk to them so that you have this if you need it.
Was it easy to work with WaliaJones and what would you tell other brides considering getting their outfits from us? I live in the U.S and WaliaJones is based out of Australia/NewZealand, so I didn't get to enjoy an in-person bridal consultation. However, WaliaJones Customer Service was responsive via email anytime I had a question or wanted an update on my order.
What did you love most about your outfit? This is a hard question, I really love everything about the outfit. The yellow colour of the outfit was beautiful and literally looked like it was glowing. The raw silk material was high quality and is an excellent material that doesn't wrinkle so it always looks perfect. All of the detailing and beading was stunning from the pearls down to the small sequence in the vale.
How was your special day? Our wedding day is a day I will never forget, it took place at the beautiful Richmond Hill Hotel, in Richmond, London, England. My now husband, is Nigerian and so our wedding was a fusion of two cultures and religions. When he saw me for the first time on the wedding day at our First Look, he was definitely taken a back- as was I, he looked like the new James Bond. For the wedding ceremony we had both a Hindu ceremony and a Christian ceremony. We then celebrated like royalty during the reception and partied until the sun came up - literally. The love and positive energy from all of our family and friends is something that will never leave us. I feel very lucky to have the privilege of marrying the man of dreams.
What tips would you give other brides for choosing their wedding outfits that you found worked for you? The best piece of advice I can give a bride is wear what YOU want to wear and feel the most beautiful in. Don't let your mom, sisters, cousins, aunts, mothers-in-law, friends or anyone else tell you what you need to be wearing. Your wedding is YOUR day.
Okay, our hearts just melted. We wish Priyanka and her new husband all the best in their next chapter.
