Sapana Amin was born and raised in the US and decided to move to Mumbai, India in 2004 to fulfill her dream of starting her own clothing line. The ‘Sapana Amin’ label is a mix of her Indian background with a touch of western style. The collections often include a unique range of 3-piece Indo-Western outfits of one shoulder, to strapless tunics and dresses. She believes India is known for its vibrant colors and uses them in stark contrasts such as hot pink against beige, neon yellow with grey.
Also distinctive of her work is her use of western elements to Indian outfits. Each outfit has a unique twist to it, whether it’s adding side pockets to the tunic or her signature one-shoulder drape style, making Indian outfits more modern in their practicality and functionality.
